How to select the Right Resume Format
There are at least three general formats for a resume and all three highlight different features of your working or educational career. Picking the correct resume for the right job is extremely essential.

Whatever format you select, give details and descriptions of what you did, how you did it, and the outcome achieved by you. Make your statements qualitative and specific. Avoid elements like ''hard working'' and focus on essentials. Include information’s like how, when and where you obtained the skills and how much experience has been gained with those skills.

A chronological resume is suitable for you if you have an excellent working career with no gaps and a profession that shows increasing job responsibilities. It is also a generally acceptable format if you are not too old or too young, with little experience. Chronological resumes have detailed dates and locations, placed in the reverse order. It is the most usual and reliable format to use.

A functional resume is one which is slowly gaining popularity. It focuses on qualifications, achievements and skills and highlights key accomplishments in the best possible manner. It is a good format for more middle-aged professionals, who can concentrate their resume on their abilities rather than years. This is also a good format for recent college graduates, who have little to list in the form of experience and can use this method to highlight trainings and projects.

A hybrid format is a mixture of both functional information and chronological formats. The use of this format can result in a superb resume because it has the time-honored, traditional chronological job history and a special focus area for highlighted skills.

Another type of resume is the targeted resume. The targeted resume is one which is utilized for a particular job or a specific job path. The targeted resume can be in the format of a functional, hybrid or chronological resume. This is a good style to adopt is if you’re a jack of all skills but, want to highlight a particular skill to target a specific profession.

In order to make the correct choice, you first need to understand your own requirements. Once you are clear with this, you should be able to make the appropriate choice which will benefit you in the maximum way.
